The FSB has identified a member of the “Ukrainian sabotage and terrorist group” who, together with Natalia Vovk, was preparing the murder of Daria Dugina— this is a citizen of Ukraine Bohdan Tsyganenko, born in 1978, the Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the special services reported.
According to the FSB, Tsyganenko provided Vovk with fake license plates and documents in the name of Yulia Zaiko— a truly existing citizen of Kazakhstan. He also, together with Vovk, assembled an improvised explosive device in a garage in the south-west of Moscow.
The DSP notes that Tsyganenko arrived in Russia in transit through Estonia on July 30, and left the day before Dugina's death.
The journalist, the daughter of the philosopher Alexander Dugin, died on the evening of August 20. An explosive device went off in her car when she was returning from the Tradition festival, where she was accompanying her father. Alexander Dugin was driving in another car.
Daria Dugin was a philosopher and political scientist, she worked on the Tsargrad channel; and radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”. Alexander Dugin is sure that she herself, and not anyone else, was the target of the attempt on his daughter. “For the Russian idea, for the religious idea, for the Orthodox idea, for the sovereign idea, for the defense of our people, our state,” — he explained.
Two days after the explosion of the car, the FSB announced that the crime had been solved: according to the department, the murder was prepared by the Ukrainian special services, and the citizen of Ukraine Natalia Vovk became the perpetrator. She arrived in Russia on July 23 with her daughter born in 2010, and after the murder of Dugina, she left for Estonia, the FSB said.
In its new press release, the FSB also said it had reviewed CCTV footage, which confirmed that Vovk personally followed Dugina in the festival car park. “Having made sure that Dugina left the festival, N. Vovk followed her in a Mini Cooper car and set off an improvised explosive device,” — according to the CSO.
On August 24, REN TV reported that shortly before the alleged commission of the crime, Vovk rented a garage 4 km from the apartment on Vernadsky Avenue, where Dugina lived and where she herself rented an apartment. According to the channel, Vovk introduced herself as Yulia and showed the owner a Kazakh passport.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the murder of Dugina a “barbaric crime” and stressed that the organizers, customers and performers “can not be spared.” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Kyiv was not involved in the murder.
