A Moscow court elects a measure of restraint for a woman who is suspected of illegal access to state secrets. Investigators asked to place her under arrest

In Moscow, a woman was suspected of illegally obtaining information related to state secrets. This is evidenced by the data on the website of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow received a petition to select a measure of restraint in the form of detention in relation to a certain Timofeeva S.V. Part 2 Art. 283.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal receipt by a group of persons of information constituting a state secret by kidnapping, deceit, blackmail, coercion, threat of violence, or in any other illegal way). The maximum penalty under this article— imprisonment for up to eight years.

The case will be heard by Judge Irina Akkuratova. In 2019, she tried the Seventh Studio case. She returned the case to the prosecutor's office due to the contradictions that emerged after the financial examination.

In 2021, the government approved new rules for grading information that constitutes a state secret according to the degree of secrecy— depending on the severity of the damage that may be inflicted on Russia's security by the dissemination of classified information.

In August 2020, Andrey Pyzh, a blogger and host of the Urbanturizm YouTube channel, also known as MSH or Andrey Nyashny, was arrested under par. "d" Part 2 Art. 283.1 (illegal obtaining of information constituting a state secret).

Videos about extreme travels were published on his channel, including those related to penetrations into various abandoned and operating objects— metro, mines, factories, power plants. Nevertheless, his lawyer assured that the charge against the blogger was not related to the videos on his YouTube channel.

The prosecutor's office noted that in the period from 2018 to August 2020, Pyzh illegally obtained information constituting a state secret, regarding the design features and technical systems of some secure facilities located in the Moscow region.

Later, the court found that Pyzh was a member of the so-called digger community and did not have access to state secrets and information constituting state secret.

In October 2021, the Moscow City Court sentenced Pyzh to five years in prison for illegally collecting information constituting a state secret.
