Zaporozhye NPP
France has received security guarantees from the Russian and Ukrainian side for the mission of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters, BFMTV reports.
“We received security guarantees from Ukraine and Russia” ,— he said.
Macron added that there are serious concerns about nuclear security and military operations should not jeopardize it.
Earlier, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, after a conversation with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, said that Paris supports sending IAEA experts to the station “with respect for the sovereignty of Ukraine” and the Russian side “agreed in principle with this position and reaffirmed the promise to refrain from actions that threaten this mission.
Zaporozhye NPP, which has been under the control of the Russian military since the end of February, was repeatedly subjected to shelling, in mid-August they intensified. The day before, the security system worked at the station, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that it had been shelled by Ukrainian forces twice in a day.
In mid-August, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that he called for the organization's mission to be allowed to the station as soon as possible. The UN said they would support the trip of specialists through Kyiv with the consent of Moscow and the Ukrainian authorities.

In early August, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the route and schedule for the IAEA visit to the Zaporozhye NPP had been agreed upon in June, but “at the last moment” red light ” included the security department of the UN secretariat.
