Anderson .Paak & Bruno Mars’ SilkSonic Petition Grammys For A Performance

If Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars should have their way, fans will most definitely be seeing them on the Grammy stage later this month.

For now, they have the uphill battle of convincing the Recording Academy to respond to their tweets and their rather long but trending hashtags #LetSilkSonicThrive.

The hashtag is a reference to the newly formed duo which the two recently dreamt up, to the pleasure of die-hearted.Paak and Mars fans. The duo has since released their breakout track “Leave The Door Open” which they are petitioning to unveil on one of the biggest nights of music. The music video has already accumulated over 14 million views on Youtube since its release on March 05.

Due to Covid-19 constraints, the show was pushed back from its usual January slot to March 14, still to be held at the legendary Staples Arena in Los Angeles. Among the names set to grace the stage are Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, kaytranada, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, among other urban talents.

Silk Sonic has been campaigning heavily on Twitter to get the public to champion their efforts to have themselves featured among the magnificent crop of talents. Mars penned an open letter addressed to the Recording Academy.

.Paak, who has enjoyed a major uptick in his fanbase over the last year, also joined in to give a helping hand in promoting the message.

Within hours, the hashtag was trending in numerous locations such as Spain, United States, Colombia, Mexico, Peru’ and Brazil.

With no actual recognition from the Grammys, it seems Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak may be giving up on their valiant efforts.

Bruno Mars, Anderson .paak & Silk Sonic – Leave The Door Open Lyrics

[Intro: Anderson .Paak]
Said baby, said baby, said baby

[Verse 1: Anderson .Paak]
What you doin'? (What you doin'?)
Where you at? (Where you at?)
Oh, you got plans? (You got plans)
Don't say that (Shut your trap)
I'm sippin' wine (Sip, sip) in a robe (Drip, drip)
I look too good (Look too good)
To be alone (Woo, woo)
My house clean (House clean), my pool warm (Pool warm)
Just shaved, smooth like a newborn
We should be dancin', romancin'
In the east wing and the west wing
Of this mansion, what's happenin'?

[Pre-Chorus: Bruno Mars]
I ain't playin' no games
Every word that I say is coming straight from the heart
So if you tryna lay in these arms

[Chorus: Bruno Mars]
I'ma leave the door open
(I'ma leave the door open)
I'ma leave the door open, girl
(I'ma leave the door open, hopin')
That you feel the way I feel
And you want me like I want you tonight, baby
Tell me that you’re coming through
[Verse 2: Anderson .Paak]
You're so sweet (So sweet), so tight (So tight)
I won't bite (Ah-ah), unless you like (Unless you like)
If you smoke (What you smoke?) I got the haze (Purple haze)
And if you're hungry, girl, I got filets (Woo)
Ooh, baby, don't keep me waitin'
There's so much love we could be making (Shamone!)
I'm talking kissing, cuddling
Rose petals in the bathtub
Girl, let's jump in, it's bubblin'

[Pre-Chorus: Bruno Mars]
I ain't playin' no games

Every word that I say is coming straight from the heart
So if you tryna lay in these arms

[Chorus: Bruno Mars]
I'ma leave the door open
(I'ma leave the door open)
I'ma leave the door open, girl
(I'ma leave the door open, hopin')
That you feel the way I feel
And you want me like I want you tonight, baby
Tell me that you’re coming through (Ooh, girl)

[Bridge: Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak]
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (I need you, baby)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (I gotta see you, baby)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (Girl, I'm tryna give you this, ah)
[Chorus: Bruno Mars]
Hey, hey, I'ma leave my door open, baby
(I'ma leave the door open)
I'ma leave, I'ma leave my door open, girl
(I'ma leave the door open, hopin')
And I'm hopin', hopin'
That you feel the way I feel
And you want me like I want you tonight, baby
Tell me that you’re coming through (Woo!)

[Outro: Bruno Mars (Anderson .Paak)]
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (Tell me)
Tell me that you're coming through
(Woo-woo-woo-woo, woo-woo-woo, woo-woo-woo)
(Woo-woo-woo-woo, woo-woo-woo, woo-woo)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (La-la-la-la-la)
Tell me that you're coming through
Girl, I'm here just waiting for you (Oh!)
Come on over, I'll adore you (I gotta know!)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la (I'm waiting, waiting, waiting)
Tell me that you're coming through (For you)
Girl, I'm here just waiting for you
Come on over, I'll adore you
La-la-la-la-la-la-la

Drake , Saweetie, Bruno Mars, Tyler, The Creator Dominates New Music Friday

Since we kicked off 2021, this might be the biggest’ New Music Friday’ of the year thus far, and it’s not just because Drake announced a new project. The Toronto rapper’s highly anticipated sixth album is still at the forefront of people’s minds, but while he perfects that with the right finishes, he is offering up a trio of songs for fans to mull over in the meantime. Drake announced that his mini-EP Scary Hours would arrive at midnight on Friday, which means chances are you’ve already heard it. The title includes three tracks – two of which features Lil Baby and Rick Ross.

The star-studded list of new arrivals goes on to include the likes of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, who joined forces on an upcoming album that they say will have that 70s sound. Ahead of the drop, the duo, who together are known as Silk Sonic, released their lead single entitled “Leave The Door Open.”

This week we’re also gifted with new tracks from the likes of Tyler The Creator, Juice WRLD and Post Malone, Young Dolph and Key Glock, Saweetie, Doja Cat and Stefflon Don, G Herbo, and more.

Drake – “Scary Hours”

Drake’s Scary Hours comes after the rapper was spotted shooting a music video in his home base, Toronto. Fans suspected that the visuals would be for a track from Certified Lover Boy, which they have been waiting for almost a year for. However, Drizzy took to Instagram to announce the new short EP ahead of its release at midnight. While Scary Hours will not qualify for a spot on the Billboard 200 chart, it is expected to perform just as well as it would if it did make that debut.

Silk Sonic – “Leave The Door Open”

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak announced a new joint album, and it is already looking like the collaboration we never knew we needed. Today they dropped off the lead single for the project “Leave The Door Open,” which is indicative of an absolutely outstanding album afoot. Just as their name Silk Sonic implies, the singer and rapper combine to give fans a silky smooth array of bars and melodies.

Clever ft Juice Wrld & Post Malone – “Life’s A Mess”

Juice WRLD and Post Malone together on one song is most likely just as you’d imagine it. These souls were meant to be spilled out on the same track at least once, and thanks to rapper Clever and Juice’s everlasting catalog of unreleased recordings, the dream was made a reality with “Life’s A Mess.” After gelling his sound so extraordinarily well with that of the departed rapper, Posty only leaves fans wanting more with this track.

Saweetie ft Doja Cat & Stefflon Don – “Best Friends (Remix)”

Saweetie enlisted UK-based rapper Stefllon Don to assist the remix for “Best Friend,” a single she released with Billboard-topping artist Doja Cat in January. The official music video for the original track has already garnered over 82 million views and 1 million likes. The addition of Stefflon Don to the record should only serve to spice it up even more and help it to surge further up the charts. Stefflon has a very West Indian style which could be exactly what a remix like this needs.

Tyler, The Creator – “Tell Me How”

Tyler The Creator has been on a collaboration binge lately, but this week he released a solo effort titled “Tell Me How.” As usual, the Grammy Award-winning rapper is always improving, and so he did not come to disappoint. The excitement of his first solo joint in a minute and his thought-provoking lyrics only set the stage for a simply brilliant album to come.

Young Dolph & Key Glock – “Aspen”

Young Dolph and Key Glock also dropped off their new single “Aspen” today. These two seem to make a good team as together they’ve already released successful singles “Case Closed” and “Green Light” this year. Their latest effort is of a similar nature to their previous as they discuss their street-savvy ways on the track.

Taleban Dooda ft 42 Dugg – “Trappin Ain’t Dead”

Taleban Dooda features 42 Dugg on his latest track, “Trappin Ain’t Dead.” On this newly released Helluva-produced track, Dooda dabbles in a new style that he carries quite well, much to the delight of fans. 42 Dugg brings his signature Detroit sound to the track complementing Dooda’s sound in an effortless way.

G Herbo – “Break Yoself & Really Like That”

G Herbo released not one but two new singles this week, “Break Yoself” and “Really Like That.” These mark the first singles released by the Chi-Town rapper this year following his track “Statement,” which was released in December amid charges being brought against him for $1.5 million of federal fraud. The rapper reportedly used stolen credit cards to cover private jets and other expenses.

Chance The Rapper also released a new music video for his song “The Heart & The Tongue” at midnight, and be on the lookout for new releases from Sonny Digital, who drops off his song “Dance” today and pgLang’s Baby Keem who debuts his track “No Sense.”

Katie Tropp – Out Of Order Lyrics

[Verse 1]

Just call me Katie “Damaged Goods” Tropp
Because my Daddy tried to sell me off at the pawn shop
But they wouldn’t give him enough so he said “Aww f**k!”
“This stupid kid ain’t worth shit” so he left me in the dust
Now my mind is f**ked and I’ve been broken ever since
And it can’t be fixed this ain’t no temporary glitch
So I pick up my knife I’m on a mission for some throats to slit
I’ll start with Bruno Mars so I ain’t gotta hear his voice again
I’m goin’ in whatever that means
My mind is clouded because I smoke a lot of trees
Get on your knees and suck my D
I’ma f**k you in the face if you got a problem with me
How you gonna do that Tropp you ain’t got a dick?
I got a big black strap on that’s twelve inches
Get your gag reflex in order you little bitch
Cuz I’m just getting started and I ain’t about to quit!

[Hook]

Katie’s getting out of order
Mind’s not right don’t feel emotion
Too far gone I am corroded
You cannot fix what’s already broken!
Katie’s getting out of order
Order out of Katie’s getting
Katie’s getting out of order
Order out of Katie’s getting!

[Verse 2]

I ain’t your sweetheart ain’t no Taylor Swift
There’s nothing sweet about me except maybe my clit
Yeah you wish that you could have a lick
And see how many licks it takes for me to get
Off- track but you don’t know me like that
And you prolly never will because you’re phony and whack
When you f**kin’ talk all I wanna do is stab
Or rip your jaw right off then cram it up your ass
Ala-kazaam I get three wishes from Shaq
With the first wish I’d like for you to grant
Me is a never ending sack of weed
And no I still won’t share it with anybody
Now for wish number two, it ain’t World Peace
In fact I want the opposite straight Anarchy
Because what I’ma do with wish number three
Is make sure all the power belongs to me!

[Hook]

Katie’s getting out of order
Mind’s not right don’t feel emotion
Too far gone I am corroded
You cannot fix what’s already broken!
Katie’s getting out of order
Order out of Katie’s getting
Katie’s getting out of order
Order out of Katie’s getting!

Chris Brown Dismiss Rihanna & Beyonce Fans, Put Some Respect On My Name

Chris Brown wants fans of Rihanna and Beyonce to put some respect on his name.

The R&B singer sparked a heated debate among fans earlier this week when he says he would love to go on tour with Rihanna, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. While some fans and even myself think it would be dope to have a tour with these four artists, others think Chris Brown is not a big enough artist to want to tour with the other three acts.

“Chris your not big enough to want a tour with RiRi and Beyonce, your not even big enough like Bruno Mars so please sit your azz down and be humble, in my Kendrick Lamar voice,” one fan wrote while another added on Twitter, “I’m actually very tired of people who think Chris Brown is a better entertainer than Beyoncé. It’s embarrassing that you even think he is on her level. I’ve said this time without number, Beyoncé is the best entertainer of our era.”

Chris Brown posted a video of one of his loyal fans defending his honor and I got to admit, the fan has a point. “What the f*** is wrong with people trying to tarnish this dude’s legacy like this dude is not elite, this is the same dude that controls a whole generation of R&B,” the fan said in his video rant. “So we going to sit here and act like Chris Brown is not the closest thing to Michael Jackson, like he don’t do everything. Are you f***ing kidding me, the dude has been elite since he was 15 years old. This is the same man that bodies every feature and turn a whack song into a hit. What is a song without a Chris Brown feature.”

Breezy also shared his personal reaction to the chatters by reminding fans that his last album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon, is certified platinum. “SAY WHAT U WANT… really wouldn’t matter at this point. GREATNESS DEFENDS AND SPEAKS FOR ITSELF,” he tweeted.

JAY-Z Left Grammys Empty Handed But Still Got The Biggest Award

JAY-Z was completely snubbed at the 60th annual Grammy Awards in New York, almost.

Hov, who is one of the most decorated artists in the history of the Grammy, went home empty-handed at this year’s awards. The “4:44” rapper went into the ceremony the Madison Square Gardens with the most nominations, but lost on each of his eight nods to either Kendrick Lamar or Bruno Mars. In fact, K-Dot and Mars almost sweep every category they were nominated in.

Thankfully, the good folks at the Recording Academy recognized JAY-Z’s contribution to music the night before by honoring him with an industry icon award. But that was not enough to appease fans who were very vocal about their discontentment on social media on Sunday night. JAY-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was this year’s Salute to Industry Icons honoree. The rap legend received a tribute performance from Alicia Keys and thus received the President’s Merit Award.

“We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care, ’cause we seen the most incredible artists stand on those stages and we aspire to be that,” the rap mogul said while accepting the award. “So I was like, I have to be here. That is the idea for us to all get involved and to push this thing further. For the people that come before us, it’s our duty. It’s our duty to make sure that, you know, not only are we making the greatest art, that we upholding and supporting the things that’s super real. I’m super humble, and I’m super appreciative of the Academy and everybody here tonight.”

During her performance, Alicia Keys belted out some vocals to her collaboration with JAY-Z, “Empire State of Mind,” before performing some of his classics including “Dead President II” and “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).” Jay also turned down a chance to perform at the Grammy’s as if he had an idea that he would be snubbed in the end. Nevertheless, it was a bit embarrassing to watch Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino, and others accept one after another Grammy and Hov just sitting there.

JAY-Z Will Not Be Performing At 2018 Grammy’s Despite Reports

JAY-Z will not be performing at this weekend’s 2018 Grammy Awards despite recent reports suggesting that he will.

Hov is going into the Grammys with the most nominations this year and everything assumed that he would be taking the stage possibly with Beyonce to perform “Family Feud” or even “4:44.” JAY-Z made a grand return to the music scene last year with his blockbuster album 4:44. That project is one of the most respected albums last year and will go down in history as one of the rap legend’s best body of work.

In the fall last year, JAY-Z went on tour to promote the album and that tour turned out to be his highest grossing solo tour ever. So it’s safe to say that he has been breaking new boundaries. Last week there was some reporting floating around online claiming that Hov will be performing at the Grammy’s, but now Hits Daily Double is countering those chatters with new reports that he has no plans to take the stage.

The Grammy’s has already announced an all-star lineup including acts like Bruno Mars, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Childish Gambino and more. The last time JAY-Z performed at the Grammy’s was back in 2014 when he took the stage with Beyonce to perform “Drunk In Love: from her self-titled album. This year a performance on the big stage would be like icing on the cake for Jay’s fans given the success of his 4:44 album.

Bruno Mars and Cardi B will be performing their new hit “Finesse” while DJ Khaled and Rihanna will be performing their monster hit “Wild Thoughts. The Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from Madison Square Gardens in New York on Sunday night. Stay tuned to DancehallHipHop for more reporting on the Grammy’s, particularly the Best Reggae Album category. It will be interesting to see who win.

Bruno Mars Sued Over “Uptown Funk” Rap Group Claims Rip Off

Bruno Mars has a new lawsuit on his hands over “Uptown Funk.”

The pop singer and Mark Ronson scored a massive hit with their collaborative single “Uptown Funk.” The single was released in 2014 and went on to become one of the biggest song on the planet that year and is still in heavy rotation on radios to date. The retro music video for “Uptown Funk” has already clocked close to three billion views on YouTube. But after making millions off the single, here comes a new lawsuit from a rap group who claim that they rip off their song, TMZ reported.

The Sequence claimed that Bruno Mars and Ronson ripped off their 1970s classic “Funk You Up” which created history in 1979 when it became the first rap son to reach the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In their suit, the female trio claim that “Uptown Funk” has “significant and substantially similar compositional elements.” They are asking for an unspecified sum in their suit.

This is the second lawsuit the two singers are facing in the last couple of months. Back in September of this year, Roger Troutman and Zapp filed legal docs claiming that Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson stole pieces of their song “More Bounce to the Ounce” which was released in 1980.

Listen Camila Cabello Song “OMG” Feat. Quavo

Camila Cabello debut a fun new single “OMG” with guest appearance from Migos rapper Quavo.

The singer dropped two new singles on Thursday, one featuring Young Thug and now this one with Quavo. The singles came just in time for her big opening gig for Bruno Mars on his “24K Magic Tour.” For this record “OMG,” Camila worked with Norwegian hitmaking producer Stargate with contributions from Charli XCX. Judging from what we heard so far, this song has the potential to be a banger.

“I got that la la la like / Pull up, pull up, pull up straight from Tokyo / You cannot believe it when we come through / Woo, my God, you look good today / Woo, my God, you look good today / Back up, back it up, back up, do it slow-mo,” Camila sings.
