Charlamagne Tha God Defends Nicki Minaj Against Joy Reid’s Attacks

Charlamagne Tha God went in full Nicki Minaj defense mode amid her spat with Joy Reid.

The Breakfast Club might not be the biggest fans of Nicki Minaj, but it seems now they are taking Nicki Minaj’s side as Twitter goes alight following Minaj’s tweets that she’s unvaccinated and has vaccination hesitancy.

On Tuesday, Charlamagne Tha God jumped in on the back and forth with Joy Reid and Nicki and noted that Reid “missed a real moment to teach” when she launched into attack mode at Nicki.

Minaj had earlier tweeted an explanation for her absence from the Met Gala, noting that they required attendees to be vaccinated but that she wasn’t and that she wanted to do more research before deciding to get it.

She also disclosed that she had also contracted the virus but was going to take the vaccine so she can get on the road for her tours. One of her tweets also shared second claims that the vaccine causes men to become impotent, which set off many people on social media, including Reid.

In a televised interview, Reid blasted Minaj for not using her large platform to encourage persons to get the vaccine. However, Nicki and the Barbz had receipts as Minaj came back and called out Reid for being a hypocrite who also previously shared conspiracy theories about the virus.

While many have taken sides and some have agreed that both Minaj and Reid were wrong in their approaches, Charlamagne Tha God said Reid failed to use her approach as a tool to teach instead of condemning.

“I respect Joy-Ann Reid. She’s the homie but she missed a real moment to teach yesterday because Nicki never said ‘don’t take the vaccine’ but she also, in the very next tweet, said she will probably get vaccinated to go on tour. Joy could’ve used that moment on her show to correct Nicki on whatever misinformation she put out. She could’ve said, ‘Nicki Minaj is encouraging people to do their research about the vaccine,” Charlamagne said.

He continued that it was obvious the rapper had questions as she even put up a poll asking people which vaccines they took.

“Nicki said Drake is vaccinated and she’s going to get vaccinated to go on tour. So if Drake’s vaccinated, and Nicki wants to get vaccinated, why aren’t you? That’s what Joy could’ve done,” he continued.

Meanwhile, among those reacting to Minaj’s comments are the international media and even the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

On the other hand, Nicki Minaj had time as she responded to those who tried to drag her, including a voice note message to the British PM who she told she wanted to send her work so he could become familiar with her.

Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ Debuts At No. 1, First Week Sales Reveal

Kanye West has the number one album in the United States.

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper’s new album Donda debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week after moving 327,270 album-equivalent units in its first week of release. Some 44,311 are from pure album sales.

There’s probably no fan of hip-hop right now who isn’t discussing Kanye West’s latest offering Donda. That’s whether it’s how much they love it, hate it, or are simply not impressed by it. As it is with the usual Kanye effect, everyone is discussing it in some way.

Kanye has also been trending because the album has been doing some very impressive numbers. In fact, Donda is set to be confirmed as the second-highest debut in Spotify history. At the top of that list is his recent rival Drake, who claimed that honor with his 2018 double album Scorpion.

He may not be able to wrestle away that top spot but he does have some good news on the horizon as his original projected sales are set to go up. Kanye’s Donda sales projections was initially increased from 300k to 350k. It eventually fell just short of the 350K mark, but well over the 300K projected.

The added fifty thousand is expected from traditional album sales. DJ Akademiks noted that given Yeezy’s decision to release the album on Sunday morning, he missed out on two full days of potential numbers. Kanye has since said that the album was released without his permission.

Of course, it would not be a Kanye release without detractors. He seems to simply attract that type of energy. Two of the more popular names to harshly critique the album include DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God.

DJ Envy, who admitted that he hadn’t yet listened to the album said, “Kanye is a clown. He is a clown and a circus. He is a clown and circus, and I’m ashamed of the people around him — Bu, Free, Pusha, [John] Monopoly … he is a clown.”

Charlamagne Tha God also had strong words calling it “exhausting” and also that it sounded “dated.” So far fans seem to appreciate Kanye’s latest body of work as is evidenced by the sales. Most of his recent releases have divided fans, it was the same with his 2013 release Yeezus.

If you haven’t yet listen to Donda, it’s available on all streaming platforms.

Charlamagne Tha God Issued Heartfelt Apology To Kwame Brown

Charlamagne Tha God offered up an heartfelt apology to Kwame.

Fans aren’t too surprised anymore when Charlamagne Tha God finds himself in the middle of controversy. Over the years, his outlandish views and opinions have often seen him be regularly placed in the hot seat. However, in his latest contentious issue, he’s found himself on the losing end, with many disagreeing with his actions.

He’s faced some serious backlash over the last few days after he made some disparaging remarks about Kwame Brown’s family. The ever-controversial Charlamagne failed in his attempt to come to Kwame Brown’s defense when he tried to share information on the former NBA star’s family. He used his nationally syndicated radio show platform to make the comments. Kwame was not pleased and let loose on the morning show host before Funk Flex, and Kevin Hunter jumped in and put even more pressure on Charlamagne.

The comments that he made at the time alluded to Kwame’s family having a violent past and that he had clashed with them several times while growing up in South Carolina. Kwame shot back during an Instagram Live session and said: “You want to talk as if you know me. Rape case guy Charlamagne Tha God, that actually plead guilty and got away with that. You want to talk about a brother that I never met because my father had a son outside of his marriage just like DJ Envy’s cheating ass. So you gonna put out to the world like I’m some killer?”

CTG again used The Breakfast Club, this time to issue an apology to Kwame Brown and his family for what he described as “unintentionally triggering trauma.”

“I want to apologize to Kwame Brown and Kwame Brown’s family. I want to apologize to his father Bill Brown and the family of Bill Brown,” he said before awarding himself the Donkey Of The Day prize.

“Last week on the radio, in my attempt to defend a Charleston, South Carolina brother like myself, I revealed too much information about that man’s family. Some things just don’t need to be said on the radio and they definitely don’t need to be said by me. When I look back on the way I communicated that, I communicated it all wrong,” he added.

He also acknowledged his role in rehashing unnecessary trauma to Kwame’s family before officially apologizing.

“And I unintentionally triggered trauma in a lot of folks I grew up with who I genuinely love. I’m sure I caused a lot of pain for not only Kwame Brown, but his family, especially his family in my hometown of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. You know how I know? Because I spoke to them,” he said.

Take a look at what he had to say below.

Nicki Minaj, Eminem Makes 2017 Trash List Per Joe Budden and Charlamagne

Nicki Minaj and Eminem makes Joe Budden and Charlamagne Tha God 2017 trash list.

That’s a pretty bold statement from two of hip hop’s staunchest critics. Budden recently left his morning show at Complex, Everyday Struggle, over some internal conflicts and now its seems he is eyeing his next gig in an effort to prove that he doesn’t need the show to stay in the midst of hip hop culture. The rapper turned podcaster recently took part in Revolt’s year-end recap with Charlamagne Tha God and they had some interesting take on the best and the worst of hip hop in 2017.

One of the hot topic issue they spoke about is the so called 2017 trash list. The full list comprises of five rappers that the two media personalities think are whack and these are Lil Yachty, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Frank Ocean. They took the time to clarify why they placed each of these artists on the list while making it clear that they don’t have anything against Nicki.

“I can’t remember the last time I saw a superstar of Nicki’s caliber put out three records at the same time, and by the way that ‘No Fraids’ record had the iHeartRadio stimulus package that you going to play every hour on the hour on every urban station throughout the country, she had Wayne and Drake on the record and that record didn’t grow bro,” Charlamagne said. “She had another record with Wayne and that didn’t go anywhere and she had a third record and I don’t even know what happened to that sh*t.”

“Nicki Minaj is a superstar and you cannot have 90 followers and put out three records and non of them catch,” Joe Budden said. The Breakfast Club host then explains why Lil Yachty is the poster child for trash artists of 2017.

Azealia Banks Criticized Cardi B Says She Is No Nicki Minaj

Azealia Banks is perhaps the only female rapper on the planet right now who did not congratulate Cardi B on her No. 1 record on Billboard.

From Nicki all the way back to the OGs like Lauryn Hill and Queen Latifa have all congratulate Cardi B yesterday, but Azealia Banks don’t feel like she deserves the W that she is getting right now. The Harlem rapper offloads a rant on Twitter calling the “Bodak Yellow” rapper a “poor man’s Nicki Minaj.”

“She’s only black when black want to include themselves in a success story,” Banks tweeted. “Because I thought she was going to be a Latina hottie and not a poor mans nicki. It went the other way now I’m over it.” She also blasted Charlamagne Tha God who she claimed is the reason why Cardi B got the number one song in the country. “Charlemagne and black men in hiphop should have gotten me, remy AND nicki a number one before they gave cardi or iggy one,” she continues.

Some hip hop fans think that Azealia Banks is just a bitter female rapper who ain’t got nothing going on for her. Charlamagne will likely give her donkey of the day for the hundredth time for these series of tweets. Even several of the male rappers like J. Cole and Kodak Black have offered their congratulations to Cardi B who created hip hop history this week when she became the first female rapper since Lauryn Hill to get a number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Cardi B responded saying that she will not let Azealia Banks take away her joy. “This is the happiest day of my life and no 1 will take this joy from me .I wish you sour patches a good day !Thats how happy I am,” she tweeted. “Every single FEMALE RAPPER CONGRATULATED ME TODAY .Is the best feeling cause I listened to ALL OF THEM.”

What Engagement? Cardi B Says Offset Still Haven’t Proposed

Cardi B shot down engagement rumors last night saying that her boyfriend Offset still haven’t proposed to her.

Rumors of their engagement have been floating around for the past few weeks and only grew more intense last weekend. While on the red carpet at Sunday night’s MTV VMAs, Charlamagne Tha God asked her about the rumors and she immediately let it known that there is no ring on her finger. “Do ya see a ring on my ring finger?” she jokingly sang. She then held up her left ring finger to show the world that there is no ring on it. “Boy, is you gon’ marry me?” she added.

Cardi B also hinted that she does want to marry Offset somebody, but only when he is ready. So the big question now is she ready to get married to him? I’m a woman and every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children,” she said. “It’s never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me, you can.” Charlamage then asked if that is not putting too much pressure on Offset and she responded, “I put it down ain’t no pressure, baby!”

Last week, Cardi B responded to an alleged diss from Nicki Minaj on London On Da Track’s new single “No Flag” featuring 21 Savage and Offset. “I don’t bother with these hoes,Don’t let these hoes BOTHER Me, she tweeted. Nicki also said that she was not dissing the “Bodak Yellow” rapper on her fiery verse. She also added that her verse was written months ago presumably long before Cardi’s blow up in hip hop. There rumored beef has been going on for months now and both have them have hinted that they are not beefing with each other. The fans think otherwise. Watch the interview below.

MMG is home to artists like Meek Mill, Wale, and Stalley, but there are no female artists on the label. The “Idols Become Rivals” rapper sat down for a candid interview with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee where he opened up about a number of topics including the reasons why he hasn’t sign a female rapper and his new show on VH1 “Signed.”

“You know, I never did it because I always thought that I would end up f***ing the female rapper, f***ing the business up,” Rick Ross said. “I’m so focused on my business. I gotta be honest with you. You know, she looking good and I’m spending so much money on the photoshoots…I gotta f**k a couple times.” By that time all three hosts were laughing uncontrollably.
